App name: re Caller ID
Full name: Regular Expression Caller ID
Package name: net.recid
Developer: www.recid.net
Summary
re Caller ID identifies incoming and outgoing calls by matching the call number against
identification rules (regex patterns and display texts) you create. Identification results are
shown in the system dialer via Android's contacts directory mechanism, and matched calls are
stored locally on your device. Rules you mark as "Block" reject matching incoming calls
(blocked calls are logged by the system call log as blocked). The app itself does not connect
to any server, except Google Play services including AdMob and Play IAP.
Data stored on your device
All data is stored locally in an on-device database. None of it is transmitted to any server
controlled by the developer.
- Identification rules — the regex patterns and display texts you write,
including each rule's pause state and block flag. These can be exported to or imported from a
file you choose.
- Call history — the call number, the matched rule's display text (if any),
the call direction, and the time of the call.
- Preferences — your dark mode setting and your purchase status cache.
Call history and call blocking are only active while re Caller ID is set as the system's
Caller ID & Spam app. Identification in the dialer works with the contacts-directory
permissions alone.
Permissions the app uses
- Contacts (READ_CONTACTS) — required by Android's contacts directory
mechanism so the system dialer can query this app for caller-identification results when a
call comes in.
- Call logs (READ_CALL_LOG) — required by the contacts directory mechanism
and by the call screening service that records call history and rejects blocked calls.
- Caller ID & Spam app (role) — not a permission but a system role;
required for call history recording and call blocking. You can change or revoke it at any
time in the system's Default apps settings.
Third-party services
- Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) — the app displays native advertisements in its
lists. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve ads. See
Google's Ads policy for details.
Ad serving can be disabled by upgrading to the Pro version.
- Google Play IAP — the Pro upgrade (Annual or Lifetime plan) uses the Play
IAP services for the app. No data is transmitted beyond the standard Play Store services.
Data we do not collect
We do not collect, transmit, or sell any of the following:
- Your rules or call history — these never leave your device.
- Personal information, account details, or contact data.
- Usage analytics or crash reports.
Data deletion
All your data are stored locally. You can delete all call records at any time via
Menu > Clear History in the app, and delete individual rules or calls
directly in their lists. Uninstalling the app removes all stored data.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
